Arthritis
Reduce
pain, feel stronger and feel great!
You can
live with arthritis. There are things you can do to feel better.
Try some of the things below.
|
|
*
Watch your weight: Any weight
you lose means less stress on your joints. Try eating fresh fruit
and vegetables for a snack instead of chips or high calorie snacks.
|
|
* Exercise: Choose
exercises that don't hurt your joints. Swimming and stretching make
moving easier and may build your muscles and bones. Always check
with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.
|
|
* Keep
your joints loose: Take a warm shower or bath to
relieve morning stiffness. For joints that are not swollen, apply
moist heat for 20 to 30 minutes, 2 or 3 times a day. If your joints
are swollen, apply a cold pack for 10 to 15 minutes once per hour.
|
|
* Don't
work you joints too hard: Be careful about bending
your knees and lifting.
|
|
* Take
your medicine:
Take your medicines as directed by your doctor. Always discuss over-the-counter
medicines and/or supplements with your doctor.
